The American Bald Eagle Foundation is seeking a Program Coordinator to join our dynamic team. The program coordinator duties and responsibilities include:

  • Working with the Curator of Collections and Exhibits to maintain the museum collections and database
  • Working with the Raptor Program Manager to carry out resident ambassador husbandry and training employing operant learning strategies
    Keeping detailed records of animal training and programming data
    Assisting with wild raptor rescue and triage
  • Public outreach including publishing a monthly newsletter, managing social media, maintaining the ABEF website, donor/member/sponsor recruitment and appreciation, public event coordination, etc.
  • Assisting with the development and presentation of educational programming materials including the Youth Raptor Program
  • Supervision and direction of volunteers and interns
  • Daily facility operation and maintenance
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Curator and Raptor Program Manager
  • May be required to work occasional nights and weekends

Required qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Wildlife Science, Museum Science or a related field
  • Experience with animal care and husbandry
  • Familiarity with employing operant learning in animal training
  • Experience participating in and presenting public educational programs
  • Administrative experience including familiarity with data collection and management

Desired qualifications:

  • Work experience at a museum, cultural center, nature center, or in a similar setting
  • Graduate degree in Education, Wildlife Science, Museum Science or a related field
  • Working knowledge of North American raptor natural history and husbandry
  • Experience with raptor training, specifically through operant learning
  • Experience with basic raptor rehabilitation
  • Experience using Past Perfect or similar collections database system
  • Working knowledge of best museum practice for collections care and exhibition
  • Event planning, marketing and outreach experience
  • Ability to communicate directly and effectively with peers and supervisors
  • Ability to complete tasks efficiently and effectively with limited oversight

Compensation:

This is an exempt position with a salary of $30,000 – $32,500 depending on experience
Three weeks paid vacation each year to be taken outside the programming season of May-August
Relocation reimbursement up to $3,000
