Overview

The Prince George’s Department of Parks and Recreation is currently seeking a part-time Museum Collection Assistant for the College Park Aviation Museum. Duties are listed below:
Museum Collection Assistant
Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Researches, scans, and catalogs items in collection and enters data in PastPerfect; particular emphasis on historic images;
  • Responds to public research inquiries, and assists staff in reproduction requests as well as press inquiries;
  • Manages library inventory project;
  • Assists with managing Education Collection;
  • Supports Curator on processing collections donations and loans;
  • Supports Curator in managing cleaning as well as climate monitoring;
  • Works with Director and Education Manager on marketing and social media;
  • Assists with public programs and staffing the museum;
  • Works 29 hours per week, including at least 2 weekend days per month or more depending on programming and staffing, as well as occasional evening events.
  • This position pays at a rate of $11.75/hr.-$16.80/hr.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience Required:

  • Minimum two years of experience working in museum collections, library or archives;
  • Experience using collection management software, Past Perfect required.
  • Must enjoy working with the public and have excellent customer service skills
Supplemental Information

This is a seasonal position.
Salaries are based on experience.
