The B & O Railroad Museum is currently accepting applications for a Visitor Services Assistant Supervisor at the museum located at 901 W. Pratt Street, Baltimore, Maryland.

Visitor Services Assistant Supervisor

The Visitor Services Assistant Supervisor reports to, and assists the Director of Visitor Services with, management of the visitor services team and the daily operations of all areas of this department with special emphasis on promoting and improving Customer Service. This person will be organized, reliable, and able to prioritize. Maximizing our Customer Service potential will be the top priority, which necessitates a need for a positive attitude and enjoyment of face to face interaction with both visitors and co-workers.

Critical Job Functions:

-Train and monitor staff in all areas of Visitor Services with emphasis on providing outstanding customer service

-Assist the Director with hiring new visitor services staff that will exemplify our standards of service

-Assist with annual reviews, employee performance documentation, and communication with staff

-Ability to handle all aspects of Visitor Services in the absence of the Director

Description:

This position is part-time, 25-30 hours, and offers a competitive hourly rate dependent on experience and skill level.

Minimum Requirements:

-one year management experience, preferably retail

-one year personnel management

-flexibility to work weekends and occasional evenings

-reliable transportation

Applicants who have successfully completed some type of customer service training will receive priority consideration.

Steps in the process include, but are not limited to, the following:

-Resume reviewed

-Application will be emailed

-Completed application will be reviewed

-Phone screening will be conducted

-Onsite interview will be held

-Customer Service project or plan will be presented

-Second interview may be required

-References checked

-An offer will be made and a start date chosen

-All paperwork and required documents must be supplied and completed on the first day

-A trial period of 30 days, with intense training, observation and review

-Thirty-day review will be conducted and a decision on permanent employment will be made
